“I started training with Workout Bandits 2 years after having major back surgery. Before surgery I was running half marathons and earned my Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. After surgery I was extremely frustrated, every program I tried increased my back pain and I would have to stop. Workout Bandits has been a lifesaver for me! I have greatly increased my flexibility, strength, and endurance. When I started working out I could not bend to touch the floor or do many of the exercises without pain. My flexibility is returning and I am now capable of doing many of the exercises such as pull-ups, that I have never been able to do in the past. We have been able to modify many movements to make them back friendly but still very effective. “The classes are unlike anything I’ve experienced elsewhere, even in the large clubs. Over the years, the classes have remained consistent in terms of intensity and challenge, yet the variety of exercises keeps my body guessing. This helps to avoid the ‘fitness plateaus’ that I’ve encountered. Plus the classes are really fun! Since first starting I’ve noticed a huge increase in flexibility and strength that I couldn’t obtain just simply by running or lifting weights. WB puts a premium on stretching before, during and after the class and that has helped my range of motion immensely. "I have always had a passion for teaching, and after receiving my black belt I became a martial arts instructor. I felt my overall health was well above average due to the strenuous routines over the years during karate classes. There were a few black belts I graduated with that had started taking Bill Urban's workout classes and urged me to join them. I tried out an evening class and quickly realized despite a martial arts background, I was lacking in many areas after one session. "My initial thought after that first session was "WOW this is pretty intense and I'm not sure I can do this" but I was assured that over time I would improve and be able to do the exercises and techniques proficiently if I kept at it. I did, and can say I have improved my strength, cardio and can do many of kickboxing and martial arts techniques that I would never thought I would have been able to do in the past. What I really like about the classes are the varied techniques and exercises, and the focus on muscle groups. They also adds in stretching, self-defense, MMA techniques, kickboxing, and martial arts. “Although I maintain regular chiropractic care, my Doctors told me I needed to strengthen my core if I wanted to feel better. "Workouts Bandits continues to change my life. In 2014 I had my entire colon removed due to 28 years of suffering with Ulcerative Colitis, then an additional 4 abdominal surgeries over the next 12 months. I have spent over 200 days in the hospital in an 18 month period. I then suffered a burst of my remaining small intestine and was hit with severe sepsis poisoning. (Another full 94 days in-patient hospital admission) December 2015 I had, hopefully, my last surgery. Needless to say I was a very weak, skinny, malnourished, and unhappy person. I was unable to walk any distance further than 50 feet. I was out of work on disability, doing nothing but sleeping and downing pain pills by the handful. My abdominal muscles were nonexistent as they had been cut and stitched back together far too many times. In April 2016, I joined Workout Bandits. I can now do ALL the routines on the schedule. Honestly, there are days I really don't feel like going, but then, I stop and think about how wonderful I felt after the last workout. I think about all the words of encouragement and praise from all the WB members. And I get up and go, and so happy that I did. I am very proud to be a ‘Bandit.’ I can see results after every workout. "As you can imagine, it is challenging to keep up with a guy (my husband) who has been a fitness and health fanatic most of his life. His disciplines are unmatched. For years I was busy running the house, raising the kids, and working the businesses. I did my workouts and tried the best I could but I admit that I did not enjoy working out or going to the gym. I also struggled with Fibromyalgia, and the pain I endured made it even less enjoyable. I am grateful for Workout Bandits!
